Salesforce Headless 360: your data on every screen, even inside your AI chat

Your customer information is neatly stored in one place, but your team spends the day working somewhere else: in a dealer portal, in Teams, in an AI chat. Whenever someone needs to check something about a customer, it means logging in, searching and retyping. That takes time, and before long the data in one place no longer matches the data in another.

Headless means your data and the rules that come with it are separate from the screen. Salesforce calls this Headless 360. Every channel can then show and update the same current data, whether that’s a custom portal or your AI chat. We make sure those connections work securely and grow with your organisation.

Why headless? From one screen to every channel

One source, every channel

Your data and the rules that come with it live in one place. A portal, an app or an AI chat shows exactly what the Salesforce screen shows, so everyone works from the same facts.

Information where your team already works

A dealer sees their orders in the portal, an account manager pulls up a customer update in the chat. Nobody has to log in first and click through tabs.

Headless 360: new label, familiar principle

Headless has been around for years. The idea comes from the world of websites and webshops, such as a headless CMS or headless commerce. Within Salesforce, you have long been able to expose your data to other channels through APIs. In 2026, Salesforce gave that principle a name of its own: Headless 360. At Hapert Trailers, for example, we built a dealer portal where dealers configure and place orders and then track them, entirely outside the Salesforce screen. What’s new is mainly what you use it for.

Headless and AI: chat with your data through Salesforce MCP

That new use comes from AI. With Salesforce MCP, you connect your Salesforce data directly to the AI chat you already use, such as Claude or Copilot. An MCP (Model Context Protocol) works like a universal power socket: one standard connection that lets an AI look up and update information in another application. That way, you pull up a customer update ahead of a conversation, log the conversation afterwards by dictating it, and create a chart for the management team on the fly.

Where do you start?

A connection works best on a solid foundation. An AI answers with the same confidence whether your data is right or wrong, so it helps when the work happens in Salesforce, records are kept up to date and permissions are set up properly. You can also simply start small, with one read-only connection, and use the AI itself to see where your data still has gaps. If you then want to connect more systems, we build a layer together that grows with you.

Our approach

From first connection to a scalable foundation

You start small and secure, and expand once it delivers value. That way you stay in control of what the AI can see and do.

Check the foundation

Together, we look at your data, processes and permissions. That way you know up front whether a connection will deliver reliable answers, and what you need to fix first.

We set up a first connection, for example a portal or Salesforce MCP in your AI chat. We start with read-only, so you can see what it delivers at your own pace.

Want to query your ERP or ticketing system too? Then we build an MCP layer with custom tools, so your AI gives the complete answer in one go.

We set up who can use which tools, capture your way of working in Agent Skills and help you think through the choice of AI vendor and subscription.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is Salesforce Headless 360?

Headless 360 is the name Salesforce gives to decoupling your data and business rules from the standard Salesforce screen. Through APIs and MCP, other channels, such as a portal, an app or an AI chat, can show and update the same data.

The principle has existed for years: through the Salesforce APIs, other channels could already reach your data. What’s new is mainly the name, and the standard connection to AI through Salesforce MCP.

Headless is the principle: your data is separate from the screen. Salesforce MCP is a concrete application of that, built specifically for AI. It’s the standard connection that lets your AI chat read and update your Salesforce data.

Any AI that supports MCP, such as Claude and Copilot. Because MCP is a standard, you can switch later or use multiple AI tools side by side.

An MCP doesn’t give your AI any new permissions: it works with the permissions of the user you connect it to. You decide which tools to switch on, ideally starting with read-only. Do check what your AI vendor is allowed to do with your data, because that differs per subscription. We’re happy to help you think that through.

A solid foundation helps, because an AI bases its answers on what’s in the system. That said, you can start small, and even use the AI to discover where your data has gaps.

Yes. If you work with your own MCP layer, your tools are separate from the chat you put in front of them. If you switch from Claude to Copilot, or something new comes along, you only replace the front end.
